Our Adopt-a-Road program was created with the goal in mind to clean up our roadsides and provide the opportunity for local businesses to get involved in the effort. An annual sponsorship cost of $650 for a 1 km. strip of road will cover costs for clean-up, delivery, disposal and recycling of all materials recovered. All plastics recovered go to building a home for a family in need. To find out how to get involved please contact us below.
Using the plastics recovered from our roadside clean ups, cinder blocks are then produced with regenerated plastic particles that are mixed with sand and cement. Each block contains over 1 pound of plastic. These blocks are then used to build homes for families in need. This program allows for great volunteering opportunities with up to 10 people per home. Our objective through our environmental education program is to teach about the issues we battle with regarding plastic waste in particular. Our program is deployed to public schools across Costa Rica and includes topics such as air, land and water pollution. Our main focus on plastic waste however is complimented with various games and activities to better teach the topic to students and involve them in the change.
